The national average price for a gallon of diesel rose by 11.3 cents to $3.715, marking the largest single-week increase in almost a year and a half, according to Energy Information Administration data released on January 20.

Since the week of December 23, diesel prices have increased by a total of 23.9 cents per gallon.

This week’s rise is the biggest since a 13.9-cent jump during the week of August 14, 2023, when the price per gallon reached $4.378.

PADD Districts

Regional Trends:
Despite the severe cold gripping the East Coast at the start of the year, the Gulf Coast PADD experienced the highest price increase of the week, rising by 13.4 cents per gallon. In contrast, the West Coast saw the smallest increase, with prices going up by just 8.9 cents.

Gasoline Update:
The national average price for a gallon of gasoline increased by 6.6 cents, reaching $3.109. This is 4.7 cents higher than the price recorded at the same time last year.
