Averitt recently inaugurated a new facility in Theodore, Alabama. The company emphasized that this achievement signifies a noteworthy milestone in its continuous dedication to supporting the shipping requirements of businesses in the Mobile metropolitan area and global enterprises utilizing the Port of Mobile for international cargo distribution.

Situated within the newly established South Alabama Logistics Park, Averitt’s distribution and fulfillment center symbolize a substantial advancement in the company’s persistent efforts to strengthen its regional and global logistics capabilities. Positioned strategically in proximity to the Port of Mobile, the site boasts a warehouse spanning 120,000 square feet and a cross-dock facility covering 35,000 square feet.

“Addressing the needs of regional shippers is a key focus, as well as incorporating eco-friendly choices and strategic planning,” stated Barry Blakely, Averitt’s president and COO. “Our commitment lies in fine-tuning logistics to suit the unique requirements of our valuable partners and customers in the region.”

In line with its commitment to sustainability, Averitt has incorporated various environmentally conscious elements into the newly established facility. These features encompass energy-efficient LED lighting equipped with motion sensors, the utilization of all-electric forklifts, and the integration of other technologies that align with environmentally responsible practices.

The facility also has::

  • A 60-door LTL dock with a ramp for ground-level access and dock levelers
  • A fully ventilated and heated adjoining warehouse with 20 doors and dock levelers
  • Over 400 truck and trailer parking spaces
  • A Driver Support Center, complete with amenities such as a driver lounge, satellite television, restrooms with showers, and a laundry room
  • Enhanced security measures, including electric fencing, gated entry, and round-the-clock video surveillance
