On Friday, officials in Georgia made an announcement that they will continue to suspend fuel taxes for an extra month due to the ongoing financial hardship experienced by consumers as a result of increasing inflation.

Governor Brian P. Kemp took action by signing a fresh Executive Order on October 6, extending the previous relief from fuel taxes. This extension was prompted by the persistently high inflation and the uncertain economic conditions resulting from what is perceived as unwise policies coming from Washington, D.C.

Under this order, truckers will enjoy a reduction of 35 cents per gallon on diesel fuel, while Georgians at large will benefit from a savings of 31.2 cents for every gallon of gasoline they purchase during the period when this order is in effect.

The extended order will remain in place until 11:59 p.m. on November 11, 2023. This extension builds upon the initial Executive Order issued on September 12, which was originally set to expire on October 12.

“We’re taking action at the state level to deliver relief to hardworking Georgians fighting through Bidenflation, soaring interest rates, and sky-high prices due to Bidenomics,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “Our state’s average gas price is now roughly 40 cents less than it was last month. With our partners in the General Assembly, we’ll keep working to put money back in the pockets of Georgia families.”
