Over the upcoming weekend, law enforcement agencies from three states are collaborating to conduct a Maximum Enforcement Period, aimed at reducing traffic violations.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety, California Highway Patrol, and Nevada Highway Patrol are coming together for a joint “tri-state enforcement initiative,” as announced by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
This intensified traffic enforcement operation will kick off at 6:01 p.m. on Friday, September 1st, and will run until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 4th.
Throughout this period, officers will be actively monitoring all types of traffic infractions, with a particular focus on identifying and apprehending individuals suspected of operating vehicles while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
“Getting behind the wheel of a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and/or drugs puts every driver, passenger and pedestrian on our roads at risk,” said Colonel Jeffrey Glover, Director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety. “All too often, troopers investigate fatal or serious injury collisions caused by impaired drivers. AZDPS is committed to enforcing laws and educating motorists in our effort to keep everyone safe during Labor Day holiday travel and beyond.”
