A seasoned truck driver with over 4 million accident-free miles was recently recognized by a state trucking organization. The Minnesota Trucking Association awarded Roger Zima, a driver for Foltz Trucking based in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, the title of 2024 Minnesota Driver of the Year during its Driver of the Year Award Ceremony earlier this week.

“Roger is a prime example of an employee that lives and breathes the core values and principles of Foltz Trucking,” said Ken Foltz, Foltz Trucking.  “Roger does it right every trip, every day, every week, and every year.”

“This award is a great way to honor the best in our industry. Driving safely is no easy task, especially considering his daily driving conditions like congestion, driver distractions, and the added challenges of Minnesota winters. Having over 4 million safe driving miles is an outstanding accomplishment,” says John Hausladen, MTA president.  “We’re proud to award Roger for this achievement.”

Founded in 1958 with just one truck, Foltz Trucking has grown into a family-owned and operated business led by brothers Frank, Ken, and Tom Foltz, the sons of founder Clem Foltz. The company specializes in hopper freight, transporting a variety of bulk materials such as agricultural products and pet food ingredients.

Throughout 2024, companies nominated outstanding drivers to be recognized as Driver of the Month. These nominees demonstrated exceptional qualifications, including excellent driving and work records, contributions to highway safety and the trucking industry, and active community involvement. From the 12 monthly honorees, a panel of judges selects one individual as the Driver of the Year.
