The national average price of diesel increased by 4.1 cents, reaching $3.602, based on data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration released on January 13.

This follows a 5.8-cent rise last week, the largest increase since October 14, when prices climbed by 4.7 cents. Despite the recent increases, the current price remains 26.1 cents lower than it was at the same time in 2024.

Regional Trends
Diesel prices rose in four of the five PADD regions according to the EIA’s weekly report, with the only exception being a 3.1-cent decrease in the Rocky Mountain area. The West Coast experienced the most significant regional increase, with prices jumping by 6.6 cents.

The Lower Atlantic subregion experienced the largest change of the week, with a 9-cent increase in diesel prices.

Gasoline Update
The national average price for a gallon of gasoline decreased slightly by 0.4 cents, settling at $3.043. This is 1.5 cents lower than the price at the same time last year.
