Rain is predicted to return to northern California on Monday following a weekend of disruptions and delays on Interstate 80.

On Saturday, December 14th, both Interstate 80 and Highway 50 in the Sierra Nevada experienced periodic closures due to vehicles losing control in snowy conditions. By Sunday, the region faced fog and frost, but chain restrictions were lifted for both routes by 5 p.m. on December 15th.

KCRA 3 reports that rain is expected to arrive on Monday morning, December 16th, accompanied by light snow showers. However, snowfall is unlikely to match the heavy accumulation seen on Saturday.

The forecast indicates dry weather for the remainder of the week, with another system bringing moisture anticipated on Saturday, December 21st.
