Northern California, near the Oregon border, is forecasted to experience a mix of snow and rain on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

The Northern Sacramento Valley, including the city of Redding, California, is expected to receive 6 to 8 inches of rain beginning Tuesday, November 19th. These wet conditions, including rain and snow, are predicted to persist through the weekend.

A winter storm warning is in effect for the mountains and foothills of Shasta County until Wednesday night. Snowfall totals of 8 to 18 inches are anticipated at elevations above 4,500 feet, while areas above 3,000 feet could see 4 to 8 inches of snow, according to the Record Searchlight.

Strong wind gusts, potentially reaching up to 70 mph, are expected in the Shasta Valley through Wednesday night.

Chris Woodward, a spokesperson for the California Department of Transportation, advises drivers traveling on Interstate 5 to carry tire chains. He mentioned that Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol might conduct chain inspections about 10 miles north of Redding at the Fawndale exit on Interstate 5.
