Volvo Trucks North America is recalling thousands of vehicles due to the potential risk of “sudden unintended acceleration.”
The recall applies to specific 2022-2024 Volvo VN models, as noted in an October 3 announcement by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Recall reports indicate that when there is a disruption in the Controller Area Network (CAN) communications and the vehicle enters limp mode, an incorrect signal from the accelerator pedal may lead to unintended acceleration, increasing the possibility of an accident.
As of October 3, no accidents or injuries related to this issue have been reported.
A total of 2,098 Volvo VN trucks are affected, with 100% of the recalled vehicles estimated to have the defect.
Volvo dealers will offer a free update to the electronic control unit (ECU) software.
Owners will be notified by mail on November 22, 2024. For more information, truck owners can contact Volvo Customer Service at 1-800-528-6586, referring to recall number RVXX2408.
