Law enforcement officers in several states are participating in a traffic enforcement campaign on I-81 this week.

The initiative, called Operation DISS-rupt, will be conducted along the I-81 corridor in Virginia, Tennessee, and West Virginia on September 19 and 20.

The Virginia State Police (VSP) will collaborate with the Tennessee Highway Patrol and West Virginia State Police for this 48-hour operation.

VSP stated that the aim of Operation DISS-rupt is to prevent any traffic fatalities during the enforcement period and to reduce the number of I-81 crashes by 10% for the year.

During the operation, officers will also educate the public about traffic safety.

DISS-rupt stands for Distracted driving, Impaired driving, Speed compliance, and Seat belt safety.
