The upcoming CVSA enforcement blitz, known as Operation Safe Driver Week, will run from July 7 to July 13, 2024, across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. During this period, there will be heightened enforcement aimed at both commercial vehicle drivers and regular motorists. Law enforcement will focus on detecting and addressing risky behaviors like speeding, distracted driving, tailgating, aggressive driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Offenders may receive warnings or citations.
This year’s Operation Safe Driver Week emphasizes cracking down on reckless or negligent driving, defined as operating a vehicle without proper care or consideration for others on the road. Last year, the initiative resulted in over 11,000 traffic stops involving commercial vehicles, leading to thousands of warnings and citations.
Additionally, truckers should be aware of Brake Safety Week, scheduled for August 25 to August 31, 2024. This annual event focuses on inspecting brake systems on large trucks and buses across North America to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
