Repairs are necessary to address a potential loss of control in several Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks from the 2025 model year.

The recall affects approximately 3,887 trucks.

Owners are warned not to drive these vehicles until repairs are made due to the risk of “complete loss of steering control,” as stated by the National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA). This defect could lead to a crash.

The issue involves an improperly heat-treated ball stud in a tie rod or drag link, which could break, according to a letter from NHTSA issued earlier this month.

The recall includes the Kenworth models K270, K370, T280, T380, T480, T680, T880, W900, and W990, as well as the Peterbilt models 220, 536, 537, 548, 567, 579, and 589.

There have been no reported injuries or fatalities, according to the recall report.

Dealers will inspect and replace the tie rod and drag link assemblies at no cost to the owners, as per NHTSA.
