A Washington driver got into trouble in Oregon recently due to a series of infractions. The Washington County Sheriff’s Department in Oregon reported an incident on April 10th, just before 7 a.m., involving a traffic stop on a tractor-trailer at the intersection of NW Jackson School Road and NW Shadybrook Road. This particular stretch of NW Jackson School Road is restricted to vehicles weighing less than 13 tons to maintain road quality and ensure safety.
During the stop, deputies found that the tractor-trailer significantly exceeded this weight limit, weighing in at 89,000 lbs, which was 63,000 lbs over the allowed weight. Consequently, the driver faced a hefty fine of $19,400.
Further investigation revealed that the driver, identified as 23-year-old David Barbacar from Tacoma, Washington, had falsified his logbook. Additionally, Barbacar appeared excessively fatigued and was observed dozing off during the stop. Concerned about the safety risk posed by his fatigue, deputies ordered Barbacar out of service.
Despite this directive, Barbacar was apprehended less than two hours later by another enforcement deputy while driving on Highway 26, knowingly violating the out-of-service order.
