The New York State Thruway Authority has just become aware of a fraudulent SMS text scheme claiming to collect toll fees on behalf of “NY Toll Services.”

The Thruway authority said, “Please be advised this is NOT an authorized communication from E-ZPass or the Toll Agencies associated with E-ZPass. We advise you NOT to access the website contained within the message if you should receive one.”

The Thruway Authority emphasized that E-ZPass New York will never request a customer’s date of birth or any other personal information. Legitimate communications from E-ZPass New York will only direct customers to the official websites: EZPassNY.com and TollsByMailNY.com.
