The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) has announced plans to temporarily close the I-55 Mississippi River Bridge for construction starting this Sunday.
TDOT states that the closure of the I-55 Mississippi River Bridge, which connects Memphis to Arkansas, will last for a duration of two weeks, beginning over the upcoming weekend. This closure is necessary to facilitate construction work on the bridge deck.
The closure will be in effect from Sunday, March 10 at 8:00 pm until Sunday, March 24 at 8:00 pm. During this period, the southbound lanes of I-55 will be closed at Bridgeport Road in Arkansas, while the northbound lanes will be closed at South Parkway in Tennessee. Local traffic will still be permitted to access the McLemore exit.
Additionally, the southbound ramp of I-55 and Crump Boulevard westbound will also be closed. TDOT recommends using I-40 as an alternative route during this time.
