During the week ending on February 26th, the average cost of diesel fuel across the country decreased by 5.1 cents, marking the most significant decline of the year thus far, as stated by the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

The latest data from the EIA indicates that the average price for diesel now stands at $4.058 per gallon. Notably, diesel prices had fallen by 4.8 cents between January 1st and January 8th but subsequently experienced a four-week increase, maintained stability for one week, and then dropped by 2.5 cents in another.

Highlights:

  • Diesel prices rose by 4.2 cents in the Rocky Mountain region, reaching $3.999 per gallon. However, they decreased in all other regions.
  • The most significant decrease, 7.6 cents, occurred in the Gulf Coast region, where diesel is priced at $3.768 per gallon, the lowest in the nation.
  • The national average price of gasoline also saw a decrease of 2 cents, falling to $3.249 per gallon.
