The average price of diesel fuel in the United States has exceeded $4 per gallon for the first time in ten weeks, reaching $4.109 per gallon, according to recent data from the Energy Information Administration for the week ending February 12th.

- This marks the largest increase in a single week since diesel prices surged by 22.2 cents per gallon from $3.905 on July 24th to $4.127 on July 31st.
- The last time diesel prices reached $4 per gallon was on December 4th, when it stood at $4.092.
- The current rise represents a significant jump, more than tripling the combined gains of the previous two weeks, which amounted to 6.1 cents.
- Compared to the same period in 2023, the current price of diesel is 33.5 cents lower.
- Across all ten regions surveyed by the EIA, the average price of diesel has increased, ranging from a 2.6-cent rise in New England to a 30.4-cent increase in the Midwest.
