A recently introduced legislation in the West Virginia Legislature, Senate Bill 441, seeks to penalize drivers who impede or obstruct the normal flow of traffic in the fast lane during camping activities. Under this proposed bill, law enforcement would have the authority to impose fines of up to $100 on drivers found driving at excessively slow speeds in a manner that hinders the regular movement of traffic.
Repeat offenders could face increased fines, potentially reaching up to $200. Exceptions to this rule would only be made when driving at reduced speeds is deemed necessary for safe operation or compliance with the law, as per reports from WWMT 3.
If enacted, Senate Bill 441 would be applicable to any four-lane highway within the state of West Virginia, and all law enforcement agencies would be responsible for its enforcement. Currently, the bill is under consideration in the Senate Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and awaits approval from both the full Senate and House of Delegates before it can become law.
