A truck driver involved in a prolonged pursuit near Houston on December 27 has been identified and charged. Trinidad Cutshall, as per Harris County authorities in Texas, faces charges of evading arrest and detention while operating a motor vehicle.
The intense incident unfolded on Interstate 10 east of Houston, following attempts by sheriff’s deputies to pull over the truck. Television news coverage captured the truck slowly moving along the interstate. Deputies eventually used spike strips to deflate its tires, bringing the 18-wheeler to a halt on the shoulder of the interstate.
Despite the disabled state of the vehicle, Cutshall disregarded police orders to exit for several hours. He continued to rev the engine, even with one wheel spinning, as police surrounded the truck with cruisers and armored vehicles. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez reported that police employed a bulldozer-like vehicle to crush the truck’s cab. Subsequently, a dog was sent in before officers pulled the driver out around 4 p.m. In televised scenes, the man was seen being escorted to a stretcher with a bloodied face.
Authorities suspect that Cutshall may have been impaired during the incident. Remarkably, he showed little reaction when tear gas was deployed in the truck’s cabin, according to police statements.
