Subject to suitable weather conditions, the Michigan Department of Transportation will have contracted work crews shut down all lanes in both directions of Interstate 94, spanning from the M-10 (Lodge Freeway) to M-3 (Gratiot Avenue), for the purpose of demolishing certain bridges over the forthcoming weekend.
This road closure is scheduled to commence at 9 p.m. on Friday, October 27, and is set to conclude by 5 a.m. on Monday, October 30.
MDOT has stated that this closure is imperative in order to ensure the safe removal of the Beaubien Street overpass and the pedestrian bridge at Seminole Street that cross over Interstate 94.
While the freeway closure is in effect, the following detours will be in place:
For westbound I-94, the detour will guide traffic by way of southbound M-3, then onto southbound I-75, and finally, westbound I-96 to rejoin westbound I-94.
For eastbound I-94, the detour will direct vehicles via southbound M-10, then northbound I-75, followed by northbound M-3, leading them back to eastbound I-94.
Before the complete closure takes effect, all entrance ramps leading to westbound I-94, stretching from Cadieux to John R. roads, will be shut down. Entrance ramps to eastbound I-94 will close from 30th Street to M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue). All ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
