In the upcoming days, the Iowa 80 truck stop, a central gathering place for truckers, will host its yearly Walcott Truckers Jamboree, which is considered one of the most significant events in the trucking community during summer.

Commencing on Thursday at 10 a.m., the 44th edition of this celebration of trucks and truckers will provide a range of activities until Saturday at 5 p.m. These include live music, delicious food, enjoyable family entertainment, stunning fireworks, and, naturally, an impressive display of attractive trucks.

Music plays a crucial role in the jamboree, and this year, the headline performance will be by Shenandoah, a country rock band hailing from Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Known for their musical prowess, Shenandoah has achieved significant success over the years, with two gold albums and an impressive record of 26 charted singles, including five that reached number one. Their performance will take place on the main stage of the jamboree on Saturday evening.

Unsurprisingly, the primary focus of the jamboree is on trucks. The event features the Super Trucks Beauty Contest, showcasing custom and operational trucks, along with a notable exhibition of antique trucks. In particular, a special antique truck, the 1923 Mack AB, will be honored for its centennial anniversary at the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum on Friday afternoon.

Moreover, the jamboree encompasses the annual Truckers Olympics skills competition, where truckers can showcase their abilities, as well as the Truckers Best Friend Pet Contest, which highlights the bond between truckers and their beloved pets.

One of the remarkable aspects of the jamboree is that both parking and admission are free, welcoming the general public to attend and partake in the festivities.
