In a recent development, an Ohio man named Gurtej Singh, also known as Gary Bhullar, has been indicted on multiple charges pertaining to a sophisticated cargo theft scheme. The indictment, issued on May 18, 2023, by a grand jury in Ohio, includes accusations of conspiracy to steal from interstate shipments, stealing from interstate shipments, and making false statements. The U.S. Department of Transportation – Office of Inspector General (DOT-OIG) has reported these charges.

At the time of the indictment, Singh operated Bhullar Transport Group LLC, a trucking company, and held a managerial position at Cargo Solution Express, Inc. Investigators have uncovered evidence suggesting that Singh collaborated with fellow owner-operators to pilfer merchandise from interstate shipments that were destined for major retailers such as Amazon and Bath & Body Works. The stolen goods were intended for delivery but never reached their intended recipients, resulting in substantial financial losses.

The case underscores the complexity of the cargo theft operation and highlights the need for increased vigilance within the trucking industry to prevent such criminal activities. Authorities are working diligently to bring all involved parties to justice and ensure that justice is served for the affected retailers.

“Singh directed CSE drivers to stop at the CSE warehouse in Columbus, Ohio, so employees could steal cargo from their trucks. The employees accessed the trailers by removing locking mechanisms on the trailer doors, making it appear as though the trailer doors were never opened during transport,” DOT-OIG stated.

Singh is also accused of submitting a fraudulent application for motor authority to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
